Elementary Class June 26-27

Parents,
your child started a new 8-week series called Journey Below the Earth this last weekend. The title of last weeks lesson was God is My Rock: I Should Use His Word as My Foundation! and the video bible teaching was out of Matthew 7:24-29. I have linked to the Message translation because I love how it compliments the lesson title for this week, "Use His Word". This translation says, "But if you just use my words in Bible studies and don't work them into your life, you are like a stupid carpenter who built his house on the sandy beach."

Many times we are quilted into attending another bible study, or a home group, or whatever and it doesn't change the way we think about God or people. Please, I'm not saying bible studies are not important, putting on the full armor of God is very important and fellowship with other believers is also very important but if these "tasks" do not transform you then you are just attending an event and going through the motions. Believe me, I love checking off my to-do list, sometimes I even put stuff on my list that I have already done just so I can check it off! But my relationship with God should not be that way, it should not be a check list. The stupid carpenter did just as much work as the wise carpenter to build the house but the difference was the foundation. The houses look the same from the curb but the one house will stay fixed into the solid foundation when the storm hits.

Take some time this week and read this passage to your child, review the bible verse from James 1:22 (this one verse we will have for every week of this series) and have fun doing the two activities from the Family Devotional.

Enjoy the weather and see this weekend! Pastor Steve
