Elementary Class - July 17/18

Parents,
this last weekend the elementary class dove into the lesson God Knows What is Best for ME: I Should Follow His Rules! The bible story was our of Exodus 19-20 with God giving the 10 Commandments to the Israelites.
Take some time this week and read these chapters to your family. Talk to your child about the 10 commandments and how they apply in your home. But take it farther and look up what Jesus taught about each commandment. Use your bible concordance to find the New Testament teachings. Some examples below:

  1. In Matthew 5:21-26, Jesus stated that the sixth commandment condemned murder, but told his followers: “I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment." He warned them against using evil names against each other and that they should resolve their conflicts.
  2. Referring to the seventh commandment forbidding adultery, Jesus declared in Matthew 5:28, "anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." His emphasis was on controlling evil, lustful desires.

Enjoy this bible study with your family. Pastor Steve
