this last weekend the elementary class studied the lesson, God is my Helper: I should do what He asks Me To Do! and read the story of Joshua doing what God asked him to do in Joshua 3-4. I have read in many bible commentaries that the Jordan at flood stage would have been the distance as crossing the Mississippi between Davenport and Rock Island. Can you imaging being Joshua leading more than 1/2 million men, women and children plus animals across a river that is as wide as the Mississippi? Of course we have the hindsight that the river gets backed up just at the entire community get ready to cross, but and a BIG BUT, Joshua did not know this but he did what God asked him to do.
Can you imagine a generation with this kind of faith? I can, because that is why I'm here doing what I'm doing...Partnering with you, the parent, invest in this Next Generation, that will trust God and do what He asked them to do, even when it seems so, so crazy! Take some time this week and read these two chapters to your family, discuss how Joshua must have felt, how the rest of the community must have felt before they entered that river. The Family Devotional has some activities to do with your family. Enjoy the week with your family an see ya next weekend, Pastor Steve!
